Lucy Botting

I am a Creative Advertising student at Michigan State University. I’ve loved taking pictures and videos for as long as I can remember—originally as a way to preserve memories, document life, and hold on to the little things. As part of my Documentary Filmmaking minor, I was introduced to photojournalism which showed me a deeper purpose in photography with the ability to tell stories that matter. My work explores themes of home, belonging, and human connection, often through a candid, observational lens.

Beyond personal storytelling, I’ve also built technical experience in live sports production, working with Spartan Vision and the Big Ten Network Student U Program at MSU. This role has taught me how to work as part of a team, and tell stories in real time.

Above all, I’m a curious person who is always looking for ways to grow, connect, and create visuals that feel genuine and meaningful. Whether through still images, documentary or other forms of visual storytelling, I aim to communicate what words sometimes can’t—and preserve more than just moments, but the feeling behind them.
